According to the California DMV, “The new Wireless Communications Device Law (effective January 1, 2009) makes it an infraction to write, send, or read text-based communication on an electronic wireless communications device, such as a cell phone, while driving a motor vehicle.” (http://www.dmv.ca.gov/cellularphonelaws/) The website provides additional information and answers questions regarding the law—worth looking at.

America is the wealthiest country in the world. Consequently, a large portion of its citizens reside in the suburbs. These average American’s like to indulge in many luxuries including nice cars, spacious houses, and big screen televisions. The American upper class is exponentially more frivolous in its spending than the lower class. Many wealthy Americas have their own jets,  vacation homes, and favorite exotic vacation destination.

The act of genocide is currently a the western region of the Sudan known as Darfur. In 2003, a rebel group launched a series of several successful attacks against the Sudanese government. The Sudanese government responded by launching a campaign in Darfur that targeted rebels and citizens in the area. Citizens are being killed along with the rebels without discrimination. How is it that the United States, in all its wealth, is not doing something to stop this genocide? Does the U.S. not have a responsibility as a world leader to prevent the continuation of this horrendous campaign? How should the vast resources of the U.S. be utilized to combat this genocide?

“Mom, dad…what’s sex?” As a parent you should expect this question at one point or another. Should you reply with the full on truth or should you beat around the bush? These days sex education seems to be pushed to lower and lower grades..Do you agree with this?

Tattoos and piercings have been around since man has been marking himself for distinction and individuality. Some people argue that tattoos are trashy and not acceptable in the workplace. Others argue that it is a art and a form of expression simply worn on the body. Needless to say it is acceptable by some, and looked down upon by others.

It seems that everyday new technology is developed in our world. These new technological advcances seem to substitute even the simplest tasks. The treadmill although effective is not as beneficial as going for a run. Computer articles are taking the place of newspapers. With these new advances, is the human race eventually going to escalate to the point where we dont even have to move a muscle in order to perform our tasks? are we changing for the worse? or are we not going to allow for these new inventions to morph us into useless creatures? yes or no?

“I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” is a truth-based book turned movie about the author, Tucker Max, a self-proclaimed womanizing asshole.  He’s slept with more women than he can remember.  He’s gotten drunk and made a complete fool of himself on a regular basis.  He’s been arrested in an airport.  Max’s book is 300 pages of disgusting, scandalous, dishonorable events that actually occurred in his life.  Women read this book and still want to meet him.  Men read this book and want to be him.  I admit to reading this book and laughing hysterically out loud.  My book has been passed around because so many people want to read it.  Why is it that we find such entertainment in the lives of the disgraceful?  Why do people want to meet a man that no one could honestly respect?

Take this ad for Tag Body Spray for men. In this add the company is basically suggesting that if you buy their product that women are more likely to find you attractive. Or that your chances of “hooking up” with a chick are much higher for men who use this product.

 In the days of our grandparents, not that long ago really, people were for the most part more conservative. This ad would have never ran as a commercial on any TV station, nor would it have been printed in any paper or magazine. I think that this type of ad summerizes how our culture, for the most part, is dummed down the explicit things of theis nature.

In May 2007, a non-profit Christian organization called Answers in Genesis opened the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. It features exhibits that tell the story of the origins of the universe and mankind according to a literal translation of the Book of Genesis. If you’ve never heard of it, I strongly encourage you to check out the museum’s website.

Should the Creation Museum be allowed to call itself that? Does using the title “museum” add to or take away from its credibility? Does it affect the integrity of established natural history museums around the world?
